Physicians and Social Media
I am flattered and honored that the folks over at Physicians Practice recently asked to interview me. As one of those geeky, blogging-doctors, they asked my opinion on the topic of Physicians and Social Media. Please take a look at that short (very short) video over on their site – it’s an interesting product of BrainShark, using a combination of the podcast audio from that interview, and images to back it up. (For complete FTC transparency compliance: I have NO financial or other arrangements with either Physicians Practice or BrainShark). Oh, be warned: you will need to sign up (FREE!) to access content on the Physicians Practice website. I know, it’s annoying, but their content is so great, it’s worth it. And they never spam!
New Social Platform
New to me, anyway. I wasn’t familiar with BrainShark until Keith Martin – Group Editorial Director over at Physicians Practice – introduced me to the new platform. Take a peak at it: you might think of some uses for your own content brand.
It’s All About The Time
Of course, the number-one obstacle for physicians and social media is TIME. No surprise there, Captain Obvious. The question becomes, is the time required worth it? That is, what is the ROI of investing the time necessary to build your online content? Let me answer that by simply saying this: take a look around at the increasing number of physicians and hospitals who are adding helpful content to their online brands – to their blogs, Facebook pages, Twitter accounts, Google-Plus accounts, etc. Do they all know something that you don’t? If you’re not already using any online platform to better connect with your own patient community (actual patients and prospective patients), then yes – they do know something you don’t. They know that the ROI is HUGE. That’s why they invest the time – to build relationships. To connect.
